man they sure ruined a interesting show

just finished watching on Netflix very disappointed how they let such a good show go to sh!t in season 4...

Season 4 was decent but the final was weak. I'm sure, they were planning season 5 but canceled it due to low ratings. Too bad

They need to do a season 5! I wish more people watched 4400. (Including myself) great show. Just ended with too many loose ends

I'm re-watching on Netflix. I kind of hope Netflix will take an interest & maybe do another season like they did with Arrested Development. But the actors have aged & it might be a little hard to pull off.

Yeah, I've been catching up with the missed episodes and have worked through season three and now am on season four. I completely agree, it gets worse with each additional episode. The only reason I'm still watching is because I am determined to finish what I started. But yeah, they dropped the ball big time with a concept that should have provided many seasons of fascinating revelations.

I agree that the show started to veer into soap territory in the 3rd / 4th season. The studio wanted the show to become more mainstream and it killed a beautiful premise. Why did the 4400 get taken and what becomes of them was the original spark that drew my curiosity.

As soon as the show started becoming "How does Joel Gretsch manage to subdue the latest 4400 today" I got very bored and stopped watching. The chemistry between him and Jacqueline McKenzie was lukewarm at best in terms of how well they worked together onscreen.

The show could have been much more, but it got stuck in the "we need to make ratings" rut and never really explored the more interesting aspects of what the 4400 were expected to accomplish back on Earth.

I've watched everything on netflix in one week. The only really interesting part of the show is that there are no bad or good sides. I was never sure who needed to "win". Tom and diane/NTAC, Collier, The Center.
But the acting was not so good and it's got an amateurish low budget way of production. Season 4 was indeed the worst. That Marco guy only needed one guess or 3 seconds to know what was going on. it was almost satire. episodes like that one where they lived inside a game was just garbage. The building "knows" what they are going to do. And that episode with a guy who controls atms while he is sick using his mind through internet lines. I'm glad it stopped.

Actually... I think season 4 is still ok & it ended the way it did most likely because they are uncertain of renew & rush to have some form of ending that doesn't include a cliffhanger. Just in case...

Strictly speaking you can take it as the 4400 movement is basically unstoppable at that point & the future is more or less secured.

The ending was ok. At least it has ending. Some series have no ending or very bad ending. Example is Lost. Bad ending.

Seems like the show wasn't even finished when I watched the last episode on Netflix i'm like "What? That's it?" That's what happens when shows get cancelled before their ready to end, rushed finishes.

reply

i believe season 4 was rushed and they tried to tie off 3 seasons worth of story ideas and plots because they knew the story was coming to an end so they crammed it all in but it wasn't all bad

I thought season 4 was excellent - a triumph of a season. S1 and 2 are also very strong, for me season 3 was the weak point. That's kind of the transition period where the show goes from being about the 4400 to about promycin, and also I found "evil" Isobel a schlocky character and didn't like that Lily had been written out. But S4 is really decent. The only character I'd say doesn't work throughout the show's run (including in S4) is Kyle - the Kyle/Cassie thing was one of the only missteps in the final season.

It has potential. The future using people from the past to stop the destruction they witnessed. The show should've resolved it in four or at least in five.
