Weird Family
There are a lot of places I could go in a comment- evidence tampering, a very biased portrayal, the owl theory, etc. But something that has nagged me from episode one is the pervasive weirdness in this family. Perhaps it's deliberately intended, of course, to portray the adult children as highly supportive and intensely involved. But, something about their interactions and the way they speak among themselves is creepy. They portray a picture of maturity and harmony that seems not only deliberate but almost too supportive and involved. They talk things to death for one, giving me the impression that like Mike, they like hearing themselves talk. They seem to be too "together" as well, if that's possible. But what seems to bother me most is the difficulty in differentiating them. And I don't mean that in relation to their physical similarities in appearance. The way they talk. The way they move. The way they talk to each other and to Dad. Of course, none of this has any real bearing on the case itself but I thought I'd mention it, thinking it must mean SOMETHING.
