I didn't take it as any kind of insult to Jewish people. I took it as a mom who knew her medicine and was being very solicitous of her loved ones.
And speaking to some later comments, I didn't even take Lisa as being overbearing. Egad, she continued to try to stick with her patient even though she was hearing intimate details about her son. This was funny as it was kind of a role reversal; usually we're up to here when we accidentally hear intimate details of a parent's romantic life.
I thought Lisa tried to be remarkably understanding and hands-off in her son's life. Although I was a bit quizzical when she first started talking to her son about his new relationship and seemed so worried when she thought the girl was only four years older. What did she want, Miss America? But she seemed to roll with the punches and adjust her emotions very well. It was also funny that she kept swigging drinks when first counseling Rafi after realizing Rafi's new beau was her son. After all, it was just water.
