HUGE FAN of this show but noticed a racist part (by today's standards)

Just to be clear, I am a big fan of this show. I'm not a SJW or trying to play the race card, just making an observation. I'm also not saying it was the intent of the writers to be racist, probably just overlooked something I think anyone can admit is a pretty overtly racist comment, at least by today's ultra sensitive standards.

Season 3, Episode 1.

When the boys and their moms are walking the red carpet for the public screening of Aquaman, the two black girls ask Turtle and Drama where their tickets are. Turtle's mother says to him "who is that animal?"

It comes across racist to me at least because the girl wasn't acting aggressive or rude, she just asks where the tickets are. The whole black people - monkey/ape slur is one of the most disgusting slurs there is, I think "animal" kind of alludes to that.

This line doesn't bother me because not much does, but I could see how some would find it offensive.

Just taking your word on that scene, you should consider the character was possibly racist. There are a lot of character's parents on comedies they make somewhat racist or naive. It doesn't mean the "show" is racist.

Turtle’s mother was an old school racist. Turtle himself was not.
