Pam and Roy make(s) no sense
This matriarchal world (make no mistake about it - in a REAL patriarchy, people wouldn't be allowed to be talking so much about 'smashing the patriarchy') loves insulting and putting down men.
This world loves it SO much, that it often doesn't care, or forgets to take into account the consequences of such actions. It's just so much more important to be able to show, tell, say and claim that men are absolutely idiotic baboons, that in the heat of the moment (I am sure there is plenty of heat), these writers forget what it says about the women.
Pam chose Roy.
Pam chose Roy over some other men.
Pam chose Roy - EXACTLY ROY! - over wealthier men, men with better jobs, men that respect women, men that would simp over Pam and let her walk over the men forever.
Pam chose a childish, selfish wannabe-alpha (that turns out to be just another simp) over some well-mannered, cultivated, intelligent, well-dressed, law-abiding, sober, but possibly shy men.
Why did Pam choose Roy? What was it about Roy that made Pam fall in love with him?
I get it, in the original, the 'Roy' character is shown to be an ACTUAL alpha, putting his foot down, protecting his woman and all that. He has power, he is strong, he doesn't take BS and he even has a temper (why do women keep choosing hot-headed, angry men..)
Women are the gatekeepers of sex and relationships, men are gatekeepers of marriage and how deep the relationships go beyond the sexual stuff.
Women choose the men from the neverending list of candidates they are flooded and bombarded with every day (just ask any woman how many dikpics they have involuntarily seen in their DMs or emails or whatnot).
Women just have to say 'yes' or 'no', they don't really have to put any effort into it. They just have to say 'yes' to the RIGHT guy.
For Pam, this right guy was apparently... Roy.
Roy has been shown to be insensitive: "I don't know, maybe a sweater or something". What man would seriously say this or be this ignorant and clueless? Men ARE generally clueless about the ridiculous stuff women care too much about, like birthdays of their pets or whatever, but men know women care about the presents (mother - matter - materialism - women are materialistic).
Roy has been shown to be socially inept and ignorant: "You are all gay! Hahahaha!"
Roy has been shown to not understand male/female-dynamics AT ALL: "I will give you the best sex you have ever had", as if THAT is a valuable present to a woman.
Women get ANY quality of sex ANY second of ANY day, as much of it as they want, in whatever location/position they want, without ever even asking, without even having to move their little finger a tiny bit. To women, sex is the most valueless thing in existence, because it is SO EASY to get, there are millions upon millions of volunteers to F a woman, if woman so much as sneezes something that sounds like an implication that she might be in the mood for something sensual this month.
Remember, THIS is the man Pam chose.
This show wants to say 'look how bad men are', but they forgot to mention 'look what men women choose', which is the consequence of saying that.
These people forgot you can't disparage 50% of humanity without it reflecting very badly on the OTHER 50% as well.
You can't put down some woman's chosen man without it reflecting badly on the woman FOR CHOOSING THAT VERY MAN.
So, why did Pam choose Roy?
I mean, he's not alpha enough to be directly attractive, he has no 'civilized qualities' that these shows claim women want, he's fat, has a loser job, doesn't understand anything about relationships OR women... there are beginner PUA nerds that know more about the female psyche than Roy ever has.
So what went in Pam's head, when she voluntarily CHOSE ROY OVER SO MANY OTHER men? Don't give me this BS about Pam REALLY wanting JIm, who is shown to be Oh, So Charming, when he's childish enough to constantly prank Dwight, weak enough to let Dwight dominate him with mere snowballs, stupid enough to fall for some of Dwight's stuff, unable to 'read the room' enough to dress in a smock when a new boss arrives (grapevine would know about the new boss), and so on and so forth, do I really need to keep going?
Jim actually didn't care about Michael falling into the Koi pond, but actually bent back so he himself, selfishly, wouldn't get wet. So he isn't exactly someone who would sacrifice his own wellbeing for others.
Jim has been shown to be a monotone-speaking douchebag, so why would anyone, let alone someone that thinks Roy is a good candidate for a friggin' HUSBAND (! Pam REALLY was planning to MARRY this weak caveman!), suddenly choose him?
Why would Pam first choose Roy, and then suddenly change her attraction system to choose Jim instead?
Why did Pam give Jim the cold shower at first, then SOMEHOW 'developed' an attraction towards him later? Was it the preselection when she saw Jim can pull other women?
None of this makes any sense..Pam's choices are incongruent.
