Ungrateful Michael in Canada?

Michael Scott sat in business class and stayed, what seemed like, in a good hotel and then complains to David Wallace about his accommodations. Do you think he was being a jerk or just angry that Wallace transferred Holly. I think he was just angry about the transfer.

reply

Yes, it was definitely about Holly.

David had a great idea by sending the retarded little manchild Michael on this *beep* trip. It was going very well, the utter simpleton was loving the trip and forgetting all about David FedEx-ing Holly to another branch but then Michael met that chubby broad which brought back some feelings.

All about Holly. Wallace even says that it is difficult to find someone to go to Winnipeg in the winter, knowing full well the trip was not going to be the "rewarding vacation" Michael thought it would be. Hell, I wouldn't care to go to Winnipeg at any time of year!

Michael thought this was an apology trip for having transferred Holly and discovered he was again doing work that Wallace simply didn't care to do.

It was about Michael misunderstanding what 'concierge' means.

This is the root cause of all Michael's pain.

He thinks it means somethign like a western 'Geisha', and he also thinks 'Geisha' means something more extensive in certain areas than it actually does (though there's debate about this).

In other words, Michael is under the impression that Wallace cóckteased Michael via proxy.

Michael thinks Wallace arranged a concierge to tease him and then not 'do the deed' in the end, just to F with him or something.

From Michael's point of view, Wallace is giving him 'a woman' in a way, but then takes her away from Michael in the end, to mess with him. This is what makes Michael so angry.

Michael misunderstands the world, people's motivations, people's actions in a myriad of ways, and what 'concierge' means, is one of those ways.

exactly, I think it's even shown quite explicitly at the end when they're waiting to get on the plane home and Michael angrily says to David on the phone "why did you have to move Holly?" or something like that.
I don't remember Michael realising that this trip was a job no-one else at corporate wanted to do, but if so, that would be yet another thing from Season 5 that would play into his decision to resign from Dunder Miflin.
[The rest of my post has very little to do with the question so feel free to stop reading at this point!]
Bringing Charles Minor to Scranton to effectively baby-sit Michael is the final straw. There'd also been the sudden and rather harsh decision to send Holly away as soon as David Wallace found out they were a couple (and Toby returning to Scranton would have been salt in the wound!), the increasingly underhanded and desperate tactics Dunder Miflin were using to stay in business (what he had to do in Price Family Paper clearly didn't sit well with him), and maybe this *beep* trip to Canada made him feel further undermined too, like he was the runt of the litter who'd just be sent on fools errands.
