I just saw this movie... Best war movie I've ever seen.

Hands down. I'm a big rough white dude, and I cried like a little baby watching this movie. It's so emotional. I can't believe a movie has finally made me cry, and hard. I've seen a lot of war films, Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse now, Platoon, etc., but I can easily say that this movie just blew all of them out of the water. What a masterpiece. I'm still crying right now as I type this. I can't believe this movie touched me so much. I never ever cry or even get emotional from a movie, but this movie had me crying rivers. I'd like to salute the brave men who fought so hard and gave their lives in the Korean war. I'd also like to salute TaeGukGi's crew and filmmakers for bringing us a piece of history. A true accomplishment.

Absolutely one of the best war movies ever made, up there with Gallipoli and Paths of Glory.

Being a white american, I don't know anything about the Korean war, nor learned anything about it while in school. I heard so many good things about this movie and never got around to watching it. I never buy dvd's, just rent. Today I went out and actually bought this without even seeing it. From 4 minutes into the film, I knew I was in for a treat. The movie was astonishing and captured every emotion I have. I've never been a war movie fan what so ever, besides the great Tiger Land. This movie hands down, is one of the greatest films I have ever seen. Along with the og poster, I was crying like a baby and movies rarely make me cry. It seems like Korean movies are the only ones that now how to capture every emotion and put it into one film and make it work right. The kings of Drama.

10/10!!!

Many things I wanted to say have been said by many people already... So one thing I've recognized from this movie was it's not a movie that about war of one side or another; but it's a movie about "brotherhood, friendship, family, love" of war; and I think it touched many people right there, including me...

Yeah, for a while I though Black Hawk Down was best war movie IMHO but this movie really does take the cake for being one of the best. I had my doubts at first, but finnally decided to rent it and see what the big deal was and it turned out to be better than I expected. I was watching with some of my buddies so I had to hold my tears in a bit, but i know if I was alone I probably would of shed some heheh. Anyways, it was a great movie...some of it was a bit off the wall...like how psychotic one of the brothers became as the war progressed on. But overall it was one of the best war movies I've seen recently. Such a shame that the one actress who played the fiance ended committing suicide though...

No, he meant the real life actress Lee Eun-Joo who played Young-Shin in the movie. Lee Eun-Joo unfortunately committed suicide in real-life over personal trouble recently.

The bit at the end with thingy as an old man asking his brothers remains to talk to him, that really made me cry.

But a bit is confusing me, the phone call he gets at the beginning they say they've found someone's remains with the exact same name as him? Whats that all about?
