WORST SUBTITLES EVER !!! Bad Translation!

Don't watch this movie if you don't speak Korean because the Subtitles make no sense!

The script has been very poorly translated. To the point its laughable even in the most dramatic moments. Everything sounds cheesy, and not the mildly cheesy but the kind the specialty cheese shops in France keep in a vacuum-sealed box to keep the odor from contaminating the entire rue.

Shut up you idiot. Everything you just wrote is complete crap

Agreed.

Damn. Why do you have to be such an ass about someone else's opinion?

I agree with fringedots. The subtitles do the movie absolutely no justice. I understand Korean and can speak Korean fluently, and the dialogue is so much more emotional and less cheesy than what the subtitles make it to be like. If you understood Korean, you would understand where fringedots was coming from. How about you know what your talking about before you go accuse someone of being an idiot.

reply

Im just saying that the subtitles didn't make it seem cheesy. I thought the film was awesome and didn't notice any 'cheese' in it whatsoever.

p.s who said I didnt speak Korean?

reply

I thought fringedots was just bashing the movie because it was in Korean. He/she could've done a better job explaining what he meant

what about "the subtitles make no sense" and "the script was poorly translated" is not to understand? may be you need to learn to read, or to comprehend, or both...

You never want the subs to match the English dub, that's what's known as 'dubtitling' and it's awful. It's what RUINED Final Fantasy Advent Children. That and the awful dub as well, no excuse for Squaresoft botching that. But that's another rant for later.

no, definitely not the worst translations. definitely not the best either. but it's nothing comapared to one translation I saw. more of a mistype, but in korean, they said

ko la han bon hey zhu sae oh... 고라 한번 해주세요.(don't know if imdb will show korean text)

the translation was simple, "I would like a c o c k."

I compare every translation to that one. and this one isn't as bad as that.

oh yeah, and those french cheeses you poke fun at are so much better than anything that americans ever taste.

Maybe...you are right. Maybe...the subtitles are incorrect.

It's still a wonderful and moving film.

I thought the dubbing was the worst in any movie I have seen. I turned it off in 20mins. You would think they would at least use Asian accented voice actors. The dubbs were just absolutely ridiculous, and really took you out of the movie.

Dubbing is usually bad, which is why I like to stick with the subs and listen to the original emotions from the actors. I don't understand a word of Korean and thought the subs were ok but you definitely feel as if you are missing something. Hopefully, they will decide to redo this movie's subs to better suit what is being said. I'd love to get every piece of what they are saying, this is a fantastic film!

I don't speak Korean but the English subtitles didn't match the English which was dubbed. The people who did the dubbing couldn;t act at all.

The only movie I have been where the audio and subtitles were a worse mismatch was Crimson Rivers with Jean Reno.

I watched it both with subtitles and English dubbing and noticed they almost never matched. Does anyone know which followed what the characters were really saying better, if at all?
