Would I understand this if I haven't seen MC1?

I a bit bored tonight so I'm gonna rent a DVD, I'm a big fan of Sandra Bullock and this looks a nice comedy so would I need to have seen the 1st one to understand it?

There are some minor jokes that refer back to the movie, but non important

Why are the obituaries found in the "living" section of the newspaper?

There are a few things you might not understand if you haven't seen the first one, but I am sure that seeing the first one would have enhanced your enjoyment of this one...on the other hand, I saw and enjoyed the first one and had trouble keeping my eyes open for this one.
