A journalist scholar oblivous of history?

Not to seem prententious, but is it credible that a journalist scholar would be so clueless of his own country's history that he couldn't deliver a believeable lecture for a few minutes for 3rd graders?

What's really strange is claiming he studied journalism at Harvard, when Harvard doesn't teach journalism.
