How is the 'Pink Panther' even involved in this movie??!!

the pink panther cartoon consisted of half it it being the actual pink panther's antics. The other half followed Jacques Clouseau as he chased down theives.

the pink panther comes from the diamond itself, not the cartoon series.

Yeah, the Pink Panther Diamond. A pink diamond.

This movie has nothing to do with the cartoon cat except in the opening credits.

The pink panther is the name of the diamond. Or atleast I think it is.

It is. The diamond has a flaw in the middle that when held up to the light the right way looks like a pink leaping panther. That's how it got its name.

Aww what? I expected this movie to be about a humanoid cat! Lucky you were here to straighten me out.
I just assumed by the movie posters and previews that they were shown for the movie were just keeping that giant pink humanoid kitty a secret.
They should still get done for false advertising though!
