For Clouseau. why the hell didn't they cast...
...Rowan Atkinson???
('stead'a Steve Martin?)
Yes, Rowan Atkinson would have been a better choice.

Jim Hutton: talented gorgeous hot hunk; adorable as ElleryQueen; SEXIEST ACTOR EVER
Kevin Kline, as Clouseau, would've been a better choice, instead of him playing Dreyfus. Look @ him in 'French Kiss'. He would've been more subtle, like Sellers was, in the first 2.
Forget Atkinson. He doesn't amuse me.
My condolences for your loss, Mrs Queen.
Carpe Noctem!
I really only liked Sellers in the first movie.

I agree. The accent wasn't so broad in the first one and as the films went on, he became so cocky, thinking he was "God's gift to women," that I rooted for Dreyfus. Herbert Lom was brilliant in that role. Shame they didn't give at least a cameo in the remake.
shareI just couldn't get through those later films. I remember trying to watch some of them, and I couldn't get past half an hour in each case. It seemed like they were just relying on extreme physical humor and similar nonsense. What was Peter Sellers thinking when he did those movies, anyway?

no bad choice steve martin is great as clouseau
shareThis may be an odd choice but I've always had the highest respect for Stanley Tucci, currently in The Hunger Games. He looks like Clouseau and he can keep a straight face.Kevin Kline was so funny and superb in French Kiss.He would have made a much better Inspector than Martin.
