Japanese style ending

Rare for protagonist to be killed in Hollywood movies. Great film!

Out of thousands of films you can find a few dozens. My point is still valid, the vast majority of Hollywood films do not have the protagonist dying at the end of the film.

It doesn't seem to be a point worth making. Of course the hero usually lives, because usually stories have happy endings. How about a film where the hero dies and it's still a happy ending? The Ghost and Mrs. Muir comes to mind, along with the Gary Cooper version of Beau Geste, and Reap the Wild Wind with John Wayne.
