Thoughts about Ben in the ending

So I watched this movie today. And love the film, and must say Russell makes one hell of a sexy cowboy.

But anyway, in the ending. After Dan dies and Ben gets in the train. He whistles to his horse, and his horse trails after the train. What do you think happens? Do you think Wade jumped off the train at some point? Or do you think he went to Yuma and stayed and never tried to escape? If he did escape (again) do you think he would've gone back to a life of crime? or just plain hid? or settled down and started being a good guy?

My thoughts is because it's obvious towards the end that Ben has formed a small amount of friendship with Dan. No matter how small it may look. And Ben did kill every member of his gang after Prince shot Dan.

What do you guys think? I like to think he escaped (because of him whistling to his horse)and stopped doing crime. Maybe having a family, or maybe going back to Alice's family and helping them.
