Harvey Pell ??
Maybe this was stated below, but the character "deputy Harvey Pell" also appears in High Noon. I think H.N. was based in Bisbee, Az. also.

shareYes, one of the deputies is called Harvey Pell and the other is called Sam Fuller, both are characters in High Noon. The Marshall's first name is Will and there is a character elsewhere in the film called Kane. Add to this the moment where Bale's character throws back the tin star (and of course is the only character willing to 'take the bad guy on')and the guy who works at the hotel but is in league with the bad guys and we have a lot of homages to High Noon. Anyone spot any more?
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

It goes even further than that.
The Marshal in "High Noon" was originally to be called "Will Doane" - which is exactly the name the Marshal in 3:10 to Yuma bears. However, movie history/movie trivia/movie gossip* has it that Kate Jurado (one of the actresses in "High Noon") couldn't pronounce the name "Doane", and so it was ultimately changed to "Kane".
*Not sure where I read it first, I think it was in a book about cult movies. But it might be gossip and not fact.
