Why did Wade stay in Bisbee?

I saw this on TV with commercials, so I know some scenes were cut short. I don't understand why, after the money was divided among the gang while at the bar, Wade stayed instead of riding out with the gang knowing that the Marshal and the other men would soon be back in town. Was it because of the woman that he risked getting caught?

I wondered about that too - I thought that maybe he actually wanted to be apprehended on some level, and stop his current lifestyle. Like he was seeking a way out, or perhaps some sort of redemption.

I agree. His subsiquent actions show that he was ready for that change.
