'Bad guy' handcuffed

First of all, this film has a pretty cool story as well as actors. I like how the plot develops and the things they experience/go through.

However, I've only rated it a 6 because it honestly bothers the bejesus out of me that they do not handcuff the bad guy with his hands around his back... It's just plain idiotic.

I can bear with the fact that they don't do it straight away, even though it doesn't make sense already there. But then he manages to kill several guys in that manner and they still let him be like that, with his hands cuffed in front of him. It's just so stupid that it truly diminishes my liking of this film.

Such a shame. :(

I felt the same. The obtuse incompetence of all those involved really spoiled my enjoyment of the story.
I mean, come on: the handcuffing, lighting a fire in the middle of the night in plain sight in bandit land, the prisoner is never searched even after they pass him his hat (anything could be hidden in there), they let him talk to his men as he pleases... I really wanted to enjoy the movie but I kept thinking "I can't ride a horse and never escorted a prisoner but I'm sure literally anyone could improvise better than that"

Totally agree. It was a good movie with solid acting and direction but it was aggravating seeing them literally giving him chance after chance to escape. Not handcuffing him properly was the big one but also taking their eyes off of him constantly and also the whole plan in the beginning was a really bad one. The good guys just didn't seem very bright. At least the they made the kid cool.

agreed dumb.

Yeah I didn't get it either, at least after his first kill change something... but no let's kip him loose...

true to the time. Handcuffing behind the back has only been common practice last 50/60 years or so
