'be on your best behaviour'? also, his wife?

So,Mr. Anderson is not a pedophile, but the principle says "be on your best behaviour" to him... "you know what I mean," he says, but never explains.

Also.. At the end, why did his wife leave him? Was it because of the reading of that essay?

So.. was the movie trying to say that Mr. Anderson WAS a pervert, but he got off?

First off, he's not a "pedophile." Pedophilia is an attraction to prepubescent children. The girls were all obviously post-pubescent.

He was obviously attracted to the girls, but never acted on it. I personally don't think he ever would have.

I think his wife did leave him because of the essay. They really should have included a "reaction shot" from her when Kimberly started reading it, to make this more clear.
