I really think Jenna Malone could've played Kimberly pretty damn well. She just has that natural look to her. Thats what I immediately thought of when I saw the poster for the film.

Jena Malone was originally attached to play Kimberly but scheduling forced her to drop out. Evan Rachel Wood is an amazing actress, so it was all for the best.

She was already in the movie in a small role as Kimberly's stepmother and she was good in that role too but Jamie King would have worked wonders with the role of Kimberly Joyce. She has the face for the role and possibly the attitude, although she may be just a tad too old for that role.

I don't think ERW pulled it off because of her supposed acting ability...I think she was able to pull it off because her dialog made it was easy to play. I would have liked to see Ellen Page's interpretation of the part.

I dont know if anyone else will agree with me, but there is an English actress called Emma Watson who I reckon would have been good. She plays Hermoine in the Harry Potter movies and recently starred in 'Ballet Shoes', so she's still stuck in the 'innocent' roles, which is why she isnt someone who springs to mind like Thora Birch, but personally I feel her look would have worked well. (think a blonde Ellen Page) But role-wise, its a bit like asking Hilary Duff in her Lizzie Maguire years if she would like to play Kimberly.
Also, isnt it weird how in these sort of films/ roles, Thora Birch, Christina Ricci, and Janis Ian from Mean Girls always gets a mention??
