who do you relate with?

I think we all can relate to each charactor in the film in one way or another, but some really do hit home more than others. So who do you most relate with?

i relate mostly with the roberto b character, since i currently live outside of the country i was born and am constantly faking my way through conversations, often missing what is said. also, the s coogan character because i can be alarmingly disinterested unless you can provide me something i deem important.

reply

Bill Murray, obviously.

I relate the most with Isaach ("No problem") in that he is utterly perplexed that some friend (Alex, who's been out of sight for a long while) is inviting him over a coffee without a serious reason behind the gesture. I guess Isaach and I are part of a weird subset who sees the absence of problems as being a problem in itself :)

In reality I am three. One is a selfish, arrogant and condescending jerk (Steve Coogan). The second is an excited, loving, happy, and innocent soul (Fred Molina).
The third is really scared of being arrogant or happy or condescending or excited.
He feels like he has abandoned himself and feels "divorced from the world". The third is Taylor Mead. So many people have dogged this film, but sincerely I feel that they just didn't get it, and that's ok. I don't get some movies either. Honestly I loved this movie, besides other reasons, because I could relate to these characters. And I think that most people can too.

I related to Renée. I've been there often: alone, enjoying coffee and/or a cigarette, and some well-intentioned person insists on interrupting my reverie. Hers was the only vignette where the person was sitting alone, and I took it to show how sometimes people prefer to be left alone with their thoughts rather than carry on some insipid conversation. That's me a lot of the time.

I relate to the waiter in this Rennee's scene.

Go away. ;-)

I'm one of these people that hate's being on the opposite side of the table to the conversational type of people. This is because I am crap at conversation, and have nothing (much) relevant to say...

I'm glad to have seen the person again, but I'm usually itching to get out of there.
