Well I think people don't just say it's boring and awkward because they don't want to lie? This is imdb, not high school where if you agree with the cool kids you make more friends or something. Believe me, people will say pretty much exactly what they think. What benefit is it to lie just so they sound intellectual or something?
And by the way, people aren't defending bad movies "because theyre supposed to be like that". You see it's all about taste and how people's taste in movies differ, much like music for example. I could say Transformers was the worst movie I've seen in a long time, but my little brother loved it and it's one of his favourite movies. Likewise he will probably find this very boring but I found it very entertaining, funny and was enthralled by pretty much evry skit. Whose opinion is correct?
However I am not of the opinion that "anyone who hates it just doesnt get it and is stupid", that is a rather childish and silly thing to say (whoever says it, not you). I just think it caters to a different taste. Similarly just because you don't enjoy it, does that make it automatically bad? Maybe to you, but clearly thousands (if not millions) of people find it good, so what does that make it?
True, I did find the beginning of the Meg and Jack White skit slightly awkward, but I'm pretty sure the other occurrences were meant to be like that, like the Tom Waits/Iggy Pop one, or Coogan/Molina towards the end, the Cate Blanchett one, and to a certain extent the "No Problem" one too. What's wrong with there being awkward scenes anyway, aren't there moments in life that are awkward or is life always one seamless awkward-free scripted and beautifully choreographed sequence of events?
I think if people were expecting a movie to enjoy or be entertained by then it's probably not for you. If however you want to see an understated study of conversation, improvised dialogue, restrained humour, and wonderful acting, then you might just like it.
Ironically, this isn't even ironic at all.
