PAUL WALKER AS BO AND JOSH HARTNETT AS LUKE

The trivia for this movie says that Paul Walker and Ashton Kutcher were up for the parts.I agree with Paul walker as Bo but Ashton Kutcher would've brought too much a comedic feel just like Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott did.A Paul Walker Bo would have brought a Fast and the Furious feel to the movie.Josh Hartnett as Luke would have just been better.

In spite of everything wrong with the movie,I actually liked it as a stand alone remake.I'm not really against remakes either,in fact I would like to see more of them, there great for the fans of the actors involved and they introduce the TV series to new people.I loved all the actors, they did a great jod with what they had to work with, and believe me that wasn't much.If they would have changed the actors of the characters the whole movie would have to be rewritten, but I don't think that would have been a bad thing. All the comedy was on the wrong characters.Certain parts and characters of this movie didn't reflect the TV series at all.

To quote John Schneider "My Gosh...it was terrible! It wasn't Dukes. It was true to whatever it was;I just don't know what that was!"

I thought it was casted near perfect (tho' if I had a choice I'd take Walker--thanks for that btw...didn't know he was in consideration--over William Scott). The only thing that I had a problem with was the OTT handling of Bo's car love. Other than that, I liked it. But all the hallmarks of the series were there going off memory of when I used to watch it as a kid. Bar fights, cousins mischeif, Daisy's feistiness, car chases, villianous plot, moonshine, stellar car chases and ramp jumps. What's not to like?

You need to rewatch a few episodes to be reminded of just how different in a bad way the movie was from the series. All of the casting was wrong and the way the characters acted and were written was really wrong.

I have rewatched a few lately. Like I said, the only one I think was miscast and miswritten was Bo as SWS was too over the top in his portrayal of him. But hey, that's my opinion of the movie just as you have yours. I'm not saying they got it perfect but I'm wouldn;t say really wrong and bad in describing the movie.

Uncle Jesse never told a bunch of jokes. He never smoked weed either. He wouldn't endanger peoples lives by throwing molotov cocktails at anyone, ever. Boss Hogg was a short fat man. Daisy wasn't blond. Sherriff roscoe was quirky and dumb in the show. The Dukes didn't have a big hidden still on their property. There is so much more wrong with the movie over all. The fans of the show can go on and on for a while about why this movie was all wrong.

I can see why Sheriff Roscoe (and for that matter) Boss Hogg wasn't played for laughs as much as they were in the show. YOu can get away with that in a TV show, but in a movie, you need to have a heavy antagonist and Roscoe/Hogg being dumb wouldn't have cut it.

Also: given that Uncle Jesse is still running 'shine and the General Lee wasn't the "GEneral Lee" yet at the start of the movie, this could be before Jesse began to see the light since in the show he had quit running shine by the start of the tv show, remember?

As much as you could go on and on about what they did wrong, I could go on about what they did right. I just think it's odd to chastise a movie for not being the TV show right down to every last detail. It was a re-imagining. On it's own merit, it's a good flick.

Roscoe and Boss Hogg not being played for laughs is part of what hurt the movie. It's alot of why people loved the show. If having them be the same as they were in the show wouldn't work then they shouldn't have made the movie. I'm not trying to chastise everything about this movie. I along with most of the fans who watched it thought that they did a poor job of casting and writting for this movie among some other things and am just mentioning it. I didn't think the movie was bad but as a Dukes movie it was terrible. They should have named it something else since not that much of it was anything like the show. Also they made other Dukes of Hazzard movies before this was made and nothing was changed. That worked. Here they messed with the formula of what made the Dukes successful and they failed. Messing with a successful formula is almost always gonna turn out bad.

Paul Walker is a horrible actor and has the charisma of a lima bean. If you have him as Bo, you might as well get another door stop for Luke, such as Hayden Christensen or Brandon Routh.

I don't dance, tell jokes or wear my pants too tight, but I do know about a thousand songs.
