Does anyone else agree that this show was so much funnier when Jimmy was in it? The way Adam Goldberg can play the crazy guy is hilarious. I thought the show prior overall was pretty unspectacular in the comedy. When Jimmy arrived it seemed to give it the boost it needed.
I think Jimmy and Zach were both great additions for the second season. It's a shame that Zach just disappeared with no explanation at all. I read that the actor left to do another project, but they could have at least written something into the story to explain why the character was suddenly gone.
It really did add to the show- he was the first supporting character to come on the show who actually accomplished that- the rest of them felt, at least for the first season, like cardboard cut-outs- pale immitations of the Friends cast.
I'm just sad that we didn't get to see more of Joey's adventures- it felt like this could have actually gone somewhere, and we certainly could have gotten at least another season or two out of it- possibly as many as five. The writing, in the second season, was really starting to get a lot funnier, and the addition of Adam made it all that much better. Shame we'll never get a proper close-out to the show...
My favorite recurring character added to the show was the always excellent Lucy Liu as Lauren, the mildly OCD producer of the show Joey has been cast in.
