I watched quite a few episodes when it first started airing
and I don't remember ever hearing him say "how you doin?" i recall an episode where he's teaching Michael how to pick up chicks and he doesn't even say it!
did i just miss it or did they purposely keep out all the gems in Friends that made Joey Joey? (like the crazy games and love for food etc)
Nope, he doesn't say it. But in the first episode Michael also tries to eat spaghetti from his plate. Unfortunately he didn't say it and just made some gestures but you know JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD! :D
shareHe does say "how you doin'" once in season 1.. I can't remember the exact episode but it was during an audition i believe. It gets a small pop from the audience when he spits it out. I've never seen season 2 so I'm not sure if he ever said it again.
shareTHere's an episode in S1 where he says none of his New York charm works. Also in the Mexico ep he asks Alex how to say it in Spanish.
shareConsidering it was four seasons before he ever says it on friends its not that big of a deal.
