Wow, This Series Sucked!

The lead actors in this were absolutely uninteresting and lacked charisma. Combine that with horrible writing and romantic melodrama and the end result is a steaming pile of poo.

Come on Hanks, you can do better than this!

So baffled why they chose such weak leads.

Wow. Go watch band of brothers and get your Hollywood war drama. As a Marine infantryman who's been deployed to Afghanistan twice, this is the best war film or series I've ever seen. It's not about the honorable good guys displaying their action skills against the ultimate bad guy. The Pacific shows you what war does to a man. Go find a man who's been through hell and has come back chewed raw, and his luck finding that pansy ass charisma you were looking for

You clearly haven't seen Band of Brothers or Generation Kill, I spent 54-months from June 2002 to August 2010 between Afghanistan and Iraq. Generation Kill is by far the best representation of post 9/11 combat in the US armed forces, the look, feel and talk is authentic to how GIs fight and go to war.

I have to agree with gettingmygrooveon, the lead actors lack charisma(especially Seda) and that ruins it for me. I couldn't make it past 2 episodes.

then you're an idiot

If someone doesn't agree with you they're an idiot? Could you be any more ignorant? Is it even possible?

reply

Wow, you watch all two parts of a 10-part series, and know how it will play out? Impressive!

reply

Yep. I watched it all and it just wasn't entertaining or interesting.
The lead character was just weak.
Band of Brothers was like Saving Private Ryan: The Series (albeit, not that good).
None of the characters were interesting and 'Leckie' was just a wimp and not a good person.
The stories and characters may be more true to life, less likeable, less romanticised - but who wants to hear that story? Not me. 6/10 at best.

Did you see when he went back into the fray on the airfield to find a corpsman for his wounded comrade? Is that an action of a wimp in your opinion?

Go watch Avengers or something...

reply

I admit that compared to Band of Brothers it wasn't nearly as well done. It was okay, but I disliked the fact that it jumped between folks instead of staying with one group of men.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

I rewatched it recently and its better then i remember..this is not meant to have a hollywood glossy feel or look. Its based in real time. Earlier post a guy said he went to afganistan and this is like real. I aint arguing with that..

Great series band of brother was better thou.
Both great series you prob wont find more realism and accuracy and detail. Quit complaining .

reply

Well that's one opinion. I found this series more raw and honest than Band of Brothers (which I still love). They're different animals. Take this one for what it is.

The final few episodes were just horrifying and masterfully written. After reading Sledge's memoir, it seems like they did a great job capturing what these men went through, though the reality laid out in the book seems much worse--if only for its length.
