$120 million budget?!? How do they make money on this thing? Surely not DVD sales. Does HBO guarantee a return for increased subscribers? I'm watching the whole thing for "free"now on Amazon Prime! Does anyone have a clue?

DVD was released November 2010, so in 5 months it made $65M in DVD sales. It tends to have surges a few times a year, during the holidays and often summer sales. I wouldn't be surprised if it has hit $200M in DVD sales to date. And generally speaking, HBO also sells international distribution rights to fund most of its shows (or at least that was the practice back when the Pacific was made).
For what its worth, an article from 2010 had Band of Brother booked $700M in sales (since 2002). It was a run away success for sure but these dvd series do move units.
