The kid from Jurassic park..

Really? They chose him of all people? He alone pretty much brings this show down a notch or two. This show was alright when Leckie was the focus, but once Sledge's character took over, things wen down from there. His "transformation" was terribly acted, not believable, corny, etc etc.

Going through the harshness of Okinawa and Peleliu were the powerful parts of this show and going through it with Sledge's character ruined it.

Yes, and Ross from "Friends" totally ruined "Band of Brothers"...

Seriously, I think he did a good job.

reply

I thought his acting was fine. Especially in the scene with Snafu where he contemplated taking the deceased Japanese soldier's gold teeth.

reply

I absolutely agree. Im sorry but hes got that face every bully must picked on. Lucky was great, but this one. I donno. Kind of ruined it for me too. Especialy those moral conflicts inside his head. Sorry. But the T-rex should have eaten him.

Saw a picture of real Eugene Sledge and guy looks like Joseph Mazello.

And after reading "With the old Breed", Mazello´s acting made more sense.

´´This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time´´

reply

I agree he was the weakest link. But from what I can remember there were several weak links in the chain of this cast.

reply

Yes, but the guy from Shawshank Redemption who played Chesty Puller redeemed it.

reply

William Sadler! I became an even bigger fan when I realized he played the Death in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. He's got some serious range.

reply

Just because YOU cannot see past his role as Timmy on Jurassic Park does not mean he was a bad actor in this.

That is YOUR bias, not the fault of the actor.

I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!

reply

he was very good in my humble opinion, just like The Pacific also in my humble opinion is better than Band of Brothers.

apology is policy

reply

I didn't see anything wrong with his acting in this.
(But the guy who played SNAFU was pretty good - never knew what he was going to do next... if he was a psycho, a pretend psycho, had lost his marbles a long time ago or kept them by just being able not to care.)

How could you switch it off whenever he was on? How could you follow it, since, after Lecky goes home wounded, the whole second half of the series is mostly Sledge's story?

I'm glad to hear you were proactive over the things you found wrong with it. Most people wouldn't bother to write.

I agree with you that historical events of national import ought to be depicted accurately. It's one of my pet peeves with certain movies that restructure historical facts.
Now, if you thought "The Pacific" was bad because of inaccuracy, I wonder what you thought of "Pearl Harbor" (if you saw it).
