Legacy books

So I remember people talking about these a while back. I finally decided to read them. I wish I hadn't. It's like reading fanfiction but one I would have given up because it's like they took one of my least favorite episodes and turned it into a ongoing saga. I hated every moment of the episode where Teyla pretends to be a Wraith queen and this series seemed to relish in it. I only just finished book four and will of course have to finish it because I can't not finish something. That being said i hate the way Teyla is written in the books. They have her dwelling far to much on her being part Wraith. Which is just ridiculous. It was stated that Teyla was no more different than those with the Acient Gene in one of the early episodes. Now we have her dwelling on how she is different. Also while I would ship Teyla and John on the show in the way I rooted for Jack and Sam I don't like how they are written together in the books. That might just have to do more with them dwelling do much on Wraith Teyla. Also I never understood why the writers didn't kill Kanaan when they had the chance so he has way to much time in the story for my likng as well.

Am I the only one that was disappointed with the books? I guess I shouldn't have gotten such hopes for them.

That being said I still have some books to read in the legacy series. I will finish. After that though I was wondering if I should give some of the other books a try not related to the legacy series? I'm hoping I will enjoys them. I do enjoy some well written fanfictions at times. I'm hoping my issue with the legacy series is just the fact that they seemed to dwell on what I thought was probably the worst episode.

I'd much rather have read a book based on the movie script for the movie that never was. It sounded fabulous.

They are up to book #8 now. (Perhaps you already knew that)

I don't like the Teyla/John hook-up either, but I may be in the minority. I personally don't like Jennifer and am still hoping that....oh wait, I can't remember what happens in which book lol so I won't go further, just in case....

I was never fond of the name they gave to Todd. Sure the Wraith have their own names, I'm cool with that, but c'mon some of them are cringe-worthy. "Guide" and "Sweetheart" (or whatever that stupid name was lol) yikes. Others like "Ember" are good ones.

Not sure how far along you are....I just ordered my copy of #8 so I've read up to #7. They are coming out so slowly that I do think I've forgotten a lot that has happened.

I have a read the original six but not the last two. To me, they started off really well but did not end as well. I agree with your points although I am not a fan of Teyla and John being together and did not like what they do with Rodney one bit. I am also a rare person who liked Keller, so was disappointed there as well. I believe the authors of the series, and if wrong I do apologize, have written fan fic, so that may explain why it feels like such.

I would recommend some of the other books that are not Legacy. I have read most of them myself and most read just like an episode. there are a few that are not as good as others but most hold up really well.

You're not the only one who hates those books. I have never read any of them, but from what I've read about them, they sound like the worst kind of drivel that untalented fanfiction writers come up with. John and Teyla as a couple, how horrible is that? The series ended with her and her man Kanaan, whether they were married or not they were a couple and for a fan writer to change the canon is rather despicable. Also hate the Rodney-Jennifer-Ronan triangle that I've read happens in the books. Jennifer made her choice, and from what she said in the series, even if McKay was out of the picture, Jennifer wouldn't want Ronan, and he had a girlfriend, Banks, who was just right for him. As to Sheppard, I thought he ended the show in a good place. He was always all about his team, which became his family, and that seems right for him. Other choices, such as giving the Wraith names when for five years they were so mysterious and didn't tell their names, are poor choices from a story-telling perspective. So is the choice to turn Rodney into a Wraith and then back again.
