Anyone else find Weir

To be a bitch? She's always trying sooo hard to assert her Authoritay! I agree with the ponytailed software guy that she should not have undermined him in front of his staff. And now she just told the captain of the Daedelus that he doesn't want her for an enemy. Lady needs to take a chill pill.

So I just stumbled on the "Annoyed by Dr Weir" thread and see that I am not alone. It's funny how many people also brought up "ponytail guy", lol.

"Pony-tailed man" is Kavanagh. I found the character to be arrogant but as much as he was in the show, he was ok. Weir, while being somewhat high-and-mighty, I did like.....

Yeah I always kind of wrote that off to a "woman leading in a man's world" and that kind of thing. You seem very similar behavior out of Captain Janeway another female leaders who are quite frankly too rare for me to remember at the moment I've worked for just as many women as I have men during my career First off I prefer working for women Second off I found them to be much less "bitchy" than any guy I've ever worked or with and lastly I find them to be far less emotional in their decision-making capabilities I suppose my point is Dr. Wiers character need not be played so bitchy in order to be effective

She was a strong leader. Don't forget that she is a civilian taking control of what most authorities would want to be a military mission. She did have some thing to prove.

I find her to be one of most admirable and capable female leaders I've seen on TV.

Jessica Steen's Weir was much, much better than Torri Higginson's Weir. Heck, even Michelle Morgan's Weir was better than Higginson's.

I love all the Stargate productions, but Higginson's Weir was one aspect of SGA that took that show down a notch.

She was in charge of something that was unknown, a cut off base in a far away solar system. She had to always try to look at the long game. Sheppard was always about what happened today. Elizabeth was always trying to do the best to keep all the people on her mission alive. She was making it up as she went along, trying to be strong. I think she did well, very well.

Leaders who chill find themselves to be deposed.

Weir was awesome.

reply

Completely disagree, Weir was one of the very few well written and well played female leader characters on tv. Usually, writers forget to give them any personality and confuse strong with them being a b##tch.
Elizabeth was smart, compassionate, brave, strong and I was really sad that they killed her, twice.
