HAHA THE 8.1 RATING IS A JOKE!

Star Trek deep space nine (7.9) Is tons better. The acting in this show is really just a joke compared to Deep space nine. With an 8.1 rating I expected one of the best sci-fi shows especially when BSG is rated an 8.8. But The final season was sooo boring. The whole wraith virus thing became stupid, The only good actor in this show David Hewlett. But if you don't like him this show is crap. Season 1 and 2 were much better. But were nothing compared to DS9's season 3-7 one of the best moments in sci-fi.

I agree - Atlantis deserves at least a 9.

Are you guys joking? Nothing is more boring than Atlantis' 50+ episodes featuring the repeated plot (if one can even call it a plot!) of characters stuck in a room/ship/building/forest/village/random hole while they babble pointless dialogues at each other in the most banal way possible.

The OP is right. The 8.1 rating is a joke, and DS9 is a vastly better show than Atlantis (albeit DS9 has some bad episodes too, but nowhere near as many as does Atlantis --- Atlantis' bad episode ratio is probably well over 50%).

DS9 is also a far superior show because:

- Most of DS9's characters receive tons of development whereas all of Atlantis' receive almost zero.

- DS9 has a much larger cast, which leads to...

- DS9 has a huge variety of stories, and it never repeats the same plot twice in different episodes...unlike Atlantis, which as I've said, probably repeats its own plots 50% of the time or more!

- After Season 1 of DS9, it has very little technobabble filler and few to no technobabble solutions. Whereas every single episode of Atlantis is chockful with of technobabble filler (taking up the time of where worthwhile dialogues would otherwise go) from start to finish. And Atlantis' characters always solve all of their problems with magical technobabble that can do anything!

- The wraith villains of Atlantis become unthreatening jokes a short ways into Season 1. DS9 also eventually has this problem a little bit with the Jem'Hadar, but to a lesser extent.

- As the OP points out, most of DS9's actors are much better than are most of Atlantis' actors.

- DS9 has no boring & awful villains. Atlantis is bogged down with many boring & awful episodes featuring Replicator villains.

- Other than Teyla, the main characters of Atlantis are mostly unlikeable and annoying. DS9 has a couple of unlikable and annoying characters too, but much less.

- Most of DS9's comedy episodes are actually funny and entertaining. None of Atlantis' comedy episodes are funny or entertaining, except maybe for the first Lucius Loving one, and the one about the kid who is going to become Queen of her people.

Guess it depends on the person. I disagree with every single point you made. There are many episodes of DS9, that on a 2nd, 3rd, etc watch-through, I can't bring myself to watch and just skip them. There isn't a single episode of Atlantis that feels this way to me. I never feel like skipping or fast forwarding.

SG-1 was even better.

How about that. I disagree with every point you made. And many of those are factually incorrect.

fifthfreedom has it right... SGA deserves at least a 9.

None of the ST shows are better.

...okay, well not going to waste time saying more, just going to add you to the ignore list.

I enjoyed DS9, but to a much lesser extent. There were to many episodes that were hard to watch, and compared to SG, it got very boring at times.

Ah yes, the whole arrogant troll belief that their opinion is more important than anyone else's in the universe, and believes that everyone should agree with them.

Well, In my opinion, I don't agree with you. Stargate Atlantis was better than ST DS9! I couldn't stand DS9 when it first came on. I'm still not a BIG fan of the later DS9 seasons either, but they were better. But still...

And it is clearly obvious to anyone who does NOT think the world revolves around them, why some shows do better than others. Because more people liked those shows better! DUH!
