Cheap & Boring
This is one of the most overrated movies that I have ever seen.
I was expecting some mind blowing film that was not blessed with a hollywood budget, but all I got was some movie about two people splashing in the water that looked like it was filmed on someone's home camera.
As a horror film, it is very poor. The most violent thing on screen was the shark being cut open at the end. There is actually very little horror in this film. It's all terror. Which is fine, but it was all poorly put together.
Even the story is anticlimactic. Towards the end we see the rescue boats search for them, which killed the suspense. I would have rather had it so that we don't see anyone, and that would make the ending where she gives up even more despondent.
Maybe I lack the sympathy to appreciate this film, or horror films in general, but it just fell flat for me. It's not a "guilty pleasure" or some "classic." It's a snooze fest that looks cheap to boot.
