All the haters can complain about the acting and how boring the film is, but Open Water was truly a magical theater experience for me. A lot of people hate this movie and I only take exception, because I am saddened that so many viewers didn't experience the same powerful film that I did. If you haven't seen the movie, give it a shot. You may hate it, or it just might go down as one of your all-time favorite horror movies. It is indeed a polarizing film.
Yea, it was exactly what all these found footage\horror films set out for and DONT accomplish . Open Water was truly scary, and got into your head that I held onto my seat with my mind hanging onto every moment they were in those shark infested waters. I'd say it is the best FF/horror film made, and on this one the critics were actually so right . I don't see how someone can say that they weren't scared or that it's not one of their worst ways to go out. I don't get the ridiculous rating.?? Who cares anyway.. It is one of my favorite horror films , and one that I still pop into my DVD player from time to time. I cannot say that about most horror films of the past 20 years.
I'm glad you had a similar experience. I agree with your assessment of it being the best found footage horror film of all-time. If you imagine yourself being in a similar situation (and I thought the actors were very realistic in how people would react in that situation) it is terrifying!
So your definition of haters is anyone who doesn't like what you like. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion even if you don't agree with it. That does not make them haters. That is such a stupid term that is thrown around way too often. If you didn't notice, these are comment boards, not fan boards for movies. This means, since you don't seem to know, that all opinions can be expressed good or bad.
I never said people aren't entitled to their own opinion. I use the word haters to mean people who hate the film, and there are plenty of them who come to this board to say how terrible the movie is. Surely, you can't expect lovers of a film not to defend it. Also, I didn't criticize people who don't like the film. I just reflected how I felt when I saw Open Water.
@bholen-01588 So you are aware that this is a comment board and not a fan board and you will see all kinds of opinions. I've never understood why someone would feel the need to defend something that they like when it's a matter of personal choice, but to each his own.
Well this film is boring! It's as 'bout as boring as Blair Witch was! Utter kack! I'm no hater, I just didn't like this film. No action, boring & dragged considering it's short!
