Harry Potter TV Show

I am sure some of you (me included) are tired of seeing successful movies turned into TV Series. I don't remember where I read this, but I know there are rumors regarding Harry Potter being turned into a TV show, an idea which, in my opinion, sucks.

On the other hand, since the HP universe is immense, instead of recreating what has already been created, I think it would be a better idea to create a TV show which focuses on the Order of Phoenix in its prime. I am thinking of a younger Dumbledore, both Potter parents, Longbottoms, Sirius Black, etc. and Voldemort, or other dark wizards, all concluding with Harry Potter surviving Avada Kedavra.

What do you think?

You know, if a remake of Harry Potter is ever remade, one could do worse than to make it into a premium TV show with a similar format to "Game of Thrones".

Think of it - one book is covered per year, and each book is split into, I don't know, 10 or 20 episodes. That way the child actors age at the same rate as the characters, and enough time is spent on each book to convey some of the wealth of detail and intricate plotting that was skipped in the theatrical films. IF the series were well made, and I admit that's a very big "if", it could be better than the movies!

I can see this happening. HBO will need something big to keep the "Game of Thrones" audience around after the series ends (I'm quitting HBO then), and Disney needs to keep people interested in the Diagon Alley section of Disneylands. I can see either company giving it a shot.

Agree with the first reply. If done well, a Potter TV series would and could do the books so much justice and allow us to see things that the movies trimmed out.

But i don't know where you heard the rumor. I highly doubt it would come around for another several years.

Besides, a series about the Order back then wouldn't have much to it - and filling in details would only tread on an already-established story. And we already know how it plays out. Who lives, who dies, who gets imprisoned, and how it ends.
