That is one scene that should have been in the movie since it was a vital aspect of Neville's character development seeing his parents driven insane by Bellatrix torture and showing Gilderoy as well.
shareAgreed, there was alot left out in the whole series and in OotP especially. This is one of the big ones they left out, and as you said it is critical to Neville's character. The HP movies seem to get all the major events right but they leave out SO much character interaction/development.
