Why.....

Is this film so underrated it's the best batman film hands down dark knight was ok, but compared to this film it's not even on the same level.

I agree. TDK got the attention because of Ledger's unfortunate death. People who would have never gone to see a comic book movie now went and saw it. Plus, they felt like not praising TDK was the same as speaking ill of the dead.

Sure Ledger's death was a factor, but crediting it with the bulk of the movie's success is ludicrous to me. I didn't hallucinate how impressive the guy's performance was or how impressive the movie in general was just because he died, and I have a tough time swallowing that anybody else did either.

People croak all the time before a movie's release! They did overdo the hype for "TDK," but I'll always have praise for the actual reboot! It was classic and took me back to my childhood with that "gladiator feel" and speeches about honor and duty; the music score elevating it even more! ;-/

This is easily the best Batman film in my opinion.

"Respect my authority!"-Eric Cartman

I think it is long winded in parts and falconi is possibly the worst choice for a villain / gangster ever, his fake "nuu yaaark/Boston muddled accent is awful.

Katy Holmes is that likeable in my opinion .

Oldman is amazing in this and stands out as the best actor .

It's a good movie but a little pretentious .

I like this movie, but its a bit more subtle than TDK. Ledger's performance was very strong and memorable in that movie and gets most of the attention from the series.

It's all personal preference. If you're more into comic book movies that don't take themselves too seriously, this is the movie for you. If you go for more gritty crime thrillers, you'll prefer The Dark Knight. One's not necessarily better than the other. I think they're both great movies, but The Dark Knight is more my style.
