Compared to BvS

How does this one rank? Its a more interesting story, but IMO BvS has better fight scenes.

reply

I'd give them both a 7/10. It is hard to fully compare since they are two different types of movies/characters, but both are much better than TDK and TDKR.

reply

Batman Begins is superior to BvS. End of discussion.

reply

It was still a bit too dark, and the only "good fight scene" is the one where we don't see him fight at all.

BvS at least had some excitement, although I'd probably drop it to 6/10 now.

reply

Begins, TDK, and TDKR are all far better than BvS.

Yaad teri aayegi, mujhko bada satayegi...

reply

In terms of story, yes, but IMO, BvS has way better action.

reply

Action schmaction. The action is Nolan movies is far from top-tier, but it fuctions OK for the gritty realistic feel they were going for. Therefore, BvS still lacks heavily in comparison, because its only asset doesnt count for THAT much

reply

In the one scene where batman's saving Martha, definitely. But most of the other action sequences (doomsday) are just silly.

reply

Well, that's the one I was most referring too, yes but the other ones, like the car chase for example were good. Additionally while the doomsday fight may have been silly, it did have pretty killer cinematography.

Personally, no. The action in BvS is too bombastic and incomprehensible at times. Meanwhile, action in Nolan's films always serves the story and it always has some kind of tension behind. BvS lacks that.

reply

Also true. The battle with Bane is probably one of the most tense cinematic confrontations of this decade. Now that you mention it, I can see some of the emotion that was felt there has been replaced for gagetry and slickness.

Hello...My name is Inigo Montoya...You killed my father...prepare to die.

reply

All three Dark Knight movies are much better than BvS, but Affleck as Batman gives Bale a run for his money.

reply

Yeah, I'm looking forward to his solo films.

reply

For me

Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Batman
The Dark Knight Rises
Batman Forever
Batman Returns
Batman V. Superman
Batman and Robin

It's a great day for American everybody!

reply

Interesting. I would say

TDKR
BvS
TDK
Batman Begins
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever (haven't seen, but it can't be worse than batman and robin)
Batman and Robin

reply

Haha it's pretty had for anything to be worse than Batman and Robin. It's okay though. There are some really weird things about it, but it's alot of fun.

It's a goofy movie but Val Kilmer plays it straight as Batman. He's actually passable as the same character Keaton was playing...(at least in Batman form; their Waynes are pretty different now that I think about it)...whereas George Clooney just seems like he's playing George Clooney in a bat-suit.

reply

Clooney was too corny for words! I couldn't stand him; Connelly passible! ;-/

I prefered aesthetic things in BvS like the costume, batmobile, and fight scenes. But Begins is like the less hot girl with the better personality, whereas BvS is shallow and kind of a bitch.

reply

what's the point of action if you don't have a good story to make you care about who's fighting or why? This is leagues above BvS.

reply

There is something to be said about aesthetic. a good example is 300. really not much in the way of a complex story but the aesthetic elements are sick, making it a good movie.

reply

that is partially true; 300 kept its characters and their motivations simple to make room for the great action, but its story was meant to just meant take you for a wild ride and so it didn't need you to know anything other than their basic, quickly identifiable motives (Leonidas wanted to protect his home, Xerxes was drunk on his own ego, etc).
BvS was trying to be a more heady movie, but in order for that to work you need something more complex than that either your brain or your heart can really latch onto instead of just go along for the ride with or else it just comes across as a mess.

reply

That's a fair statement. My suspicion is that the "headiness" will make a little more sense once the extended cut comes out.

reply

Batman Begins is better than Batman VS Superman in my humble opinion.

I think Batman Begins is a great film, but I prefer BvS.
