Is Rachel the life Bruce could've had?
If not for his parents' murder or his life as Batman.
shareMost likely
shareTo somebody so cold and unsympathetic.
shareYou are asking something that could not be known for a fact.
They could have ended up together but it doesn't have to mean they would have. See where I'm going?
The Sword of the Morning
Yeah, pretty much a meaningless love story.
shareWhy is it meaningless?
shareNot people cared about it, added very little, very unrequited love, she was very uptight and kinda dislikeable.
shareDidn't matter? Her death is what created two face. And Bane revealing that Harvey Dent became two-face undid everything that dent did right. Not to mention Wayne had a hard time looking for a life beyond the cave because of Rachaels death. Sounds like it had a HUGE impact.
shareApart from all that everyone seemed happy she died, felt she was holding Bruce back from carrying on being Batman finding love elsewhere, she attitude towards Bruce about wanting to kill Joe Chill, berating him about his playboy facade and choosing Dent over him made her come off as really dislikable.
shareLol, she was an important character. But i suppose it doesn't mean she was likeable but just had an impact on other characters.
shareEven with the murder, he still could have chosen that life.
shareHow?
shareComes back home from Princeton, starts hanging out with Rachel, doesnt shoot joe chill and doesnt run away to start training, marries rachel, works with her to try and clean up the city the way that his father did.
shareDoes Bruce ever regret being Batman? Does he wish he never ran off to train so he could be with Rachel?
shareI would say so definitely. There was that whole subplot of him expecting to be with rachel once he figured out the joker situation and allowed himself to retire
shareCourse it didn't go his way, she choose Dent over him, only for him to be heartbroken eight years later. It's the thing what if you wanted to be with somebody so badly but couldn't be with them and then suddenly with them and turned out not what you had hoped for?
Think in anyway he lost her?
No, he doesn't regret it and would do the same again if he had to make the choice knowing the future. Rachel is indeed important to Bruce but Batman is his life, his raison d'etre, something he will never completely give up but can put aside when the time is right.
If he had to choose between them we all know how he would choose...
Luckily Selina Kyle comes along at just the right time and let's face it, they deserve each other!
Turned out to be true the day wouldn't come when he no longer needs Batman, he needed Batman more than he realizes, Selina Kyle is the woman in him best because she embraces his life as Batman.
shareThink he was too consumed by his parents' murder and to avenge their deaths to let himself have a life?
shareThink the trauma of his parents' murder left him unable to wanna pursue any other girl other than Rachel simply because she's part of his pre Batman existence.
shareSure. In a parallel reality where Bruce's parents aren't murdered and he doesn't become a vigilante anything is possible...
