Fiftysomething?
I just discovered this show but realized that it's ten years old. It's very funny and well-written, although I'm mainly a Hugh Laurie fan and have to admit that it sometimes seems like a vehicle for him to show off his remarkable range of comedic and dramatic acting. Anyway, does anyone think a sequel entitled Fiftysomething would work. Think about it. Paul and Estelle would be about 55. All their kids would be out on their own. Instead of their current issues, Paul and Estelle would be worrying about becoming grandparents, getting steadily older, and that kind of thing. Rory could be pursuing a Master's degree of something. I have a feeling Daniel would be creating the most grandchildren. Dr. Pillfrey would probably be in some kind of home by this point. And I'm assuming Paul and Estelle would still be together.
This is a funny show and I think it's a pity that it only lasted one season. Does anyone think a "Fiftysomething" is a feasible story idea? It wouldn't be "Fortysomething" because they're not forty-something anymore and it would be a departure from the dynamics/relationship situations that really seemed to be at the heart of the story, but could it work on its own terms?
