Alan's money problems

In episode 20 of Season 09, Walden states that he 'wants to give Alan 100 shares of founders' stock from his new company. Then he states that it will be worth 'millions of dollars if the company works out'. Then in episode 11 of Season 10, he sells 49% of his company for $1.2b!

I see three possibilities...

1. He didn't give the stocks to Alan (makes no sense!)
2. He sold a different company (no mention of another company anywhere else!)
3. Alan has the potential to get rich by selling his stocks, and decides not to!

Which is it?
If it's the 3rd, then why?

reply

Knowing Alan; he'd probably have to end up giving it all to Judith, anyway.

Well, but didn't he stop paying alimony after Judith married Herb?
