Walking down to the pier..
I know it's a sitcom and I've been meaning to post this for years, but that's a 20 + mile walk from Malibu. Just saying bc it's always bothered me!

The overhead stock shots show that the house is near the Perenchio Golf Course, which is less that a mile from the Malibu Pier.

shareWell, it doesn't have stuff like Santa Monica. But it's not inconceivable that one of the restaurants might have a game room or Skee Ball machine.
If you're referring to Jake telling his dad that he and his girlfriend were going down to the pier, maybe that sounds more believable than going to the library to do homework. Teenagers often lie about where they're going.
