Why did Charlie leave the show?

I'm new to this show, I already watched the first 8 seasons and in the very first ep of season 9, they announce that Charlie died. What gives?

I'm sorry but do you live under a rock? In a remote cave? Did you miss Charlie Sheen's meltdown? Winning? Tiger blood? Any of that ring a bell? He lost his mind and made disparaging remarks about Chuck Lorre.

I'm not aware of any of it. If you know so much and don't mind could you tell me? Please.

Just Google Charlie Sheen. It was all over tv when it happened. I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. I mean you would literally have to have never turned on your tv or looked at a news stand for about a year. It was EVERYWHERE. Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LtBSqGzi3o
Basically, fueled by drugs and alcohol, he started talking *beep* about Chuck Lorre......so much so he got fired from Two and a Half men. Not just for that but for his erratic behavior. I mean just look at that video. Then look at some of the others. He got famous for saying stuff like "winning, duh!" and "I've got tiger blood!"
He really went off the deep end.

"Are you under a rock?" Really? Is it necessary to be nasty? This question is the most reasonable of all questions regarding this show and simply because someone doesn't read TMZ or Page Six doesn't make him clueless.
Our whole culture has gotten mean. Once it was common to point to the powerful and kick their butt but now with the anonymity of social media we treat each other like this. Snark is too much of the norm, it's way too easy: it's the idiot's version of winning. We're constantly trying to draw attention to ourselves and I think that we want to think of ourselves as better than that.
I believe we are.
You don't need a suit of armor; you can act like a knight without being on a horse. We can all just be a little better than we are. I would just love to see a Renaissance of decency.
Charlie Sheen was a victim of mental illness. He paid the consequences for his behavior while he was sick. It was tragic for many: Chuck Lorre. Lee Aronson. Sheen. Jon Cryer, mostly Angus Jones who was strongly affected by the whole thing.
What's sad is that it became entertainment for a lot of people; human devestation as mass entertainment. Sheen worked hard to become well again and his subsequent series, "Anger Management" was VERY good.
It's no different than Jack Soo leaving "Barney Miller" because of Cancer. Christopher Reeve cancelled a two picture deal for a Spinal injury. Selma Diamond on "Night Court." Patty Duke was post pilot with CBS in 1982 when hit with bipolar syndrome. Paul Newman died before "Empire Falls" was completed. Jonathan Larson died after the final dress for "Rent." Kelsey Grammer took two years off when his sister was raped and murdered. These people are people.
Imagine if we treated Sheen the way we'd treate a friend or colleague. And by the way, Sheen apologized to Lorre and Aronson as well as the 250 member company of "Two And A Half Men" after he became stable and more healthy.

I would just like to comment that I agree with you that Snark is too much the norm. Sometimes I ask an innocent question or make a comment and the first words of the reply are insulting and mean.

All the respondent would have to do is delete his ugly opening before he posts. He can still disagree with me but then I wouldn't end up feeling bad. I find it odd that I can have my feelings hurt in cyber space but I know from reading many ugly posts and replies on IMDB that it happens all the time.

I know that the response is "put them on your ignore list". I do that. But I think we all need to be aware that we can hurt others as much as they can hurt us. Maybe civility is just around the corner. I hope so.

John Cryer, a remarkably gifted character actor, has appeared in his tightie-whities many times. As a young man it wasn't as noticable but as seasons pass it's very clear that he has a surgical scar on his abdomen, left side a few inches above the belly button which rules out both appendix and hernia. Any clues?

Knife fight? lol

He thought partying, having sex with hookers, and heavy drug use was more important than how he was making a living. He got himself fired.

reply

So basically Chuck Lorre put himself ahead of the show.
The show was riding Charlie Sheen's coattails and Chuck wasn't man enough to admit it.

Charlie sheen also did not show up to the set clean and sober ready to work many many times in the last season. Time is money. Everyone shows up to work but the main star and it costs the network money. If you rewatch like the last 4 episodes sheen was in you can kind of tell that Sheen is liquored up or on drugs by the way he talks.

Also it was just not on TMZ during that time. It was on just about every *beep* network talking about sheen at the time for like a 30 day window. Perhaps the person who asked about this was off during missionary work or stuck in the mid east working for us military. Not everyone has internet access 24 7 365.
