FANBOY'S NEW clothes syndrome strikes again.

I like so bad it's good films like a lot of people do, Mommie Dearest, Batman & Robin, two of my favorites, the key about so bad it's good films is that they usually are so ambitious than even if they are monumental failures there's still something worthy about them. Like Boxing Helena for instance, you can tell it very easily could have been a masterpiece by two or three degrees.

However, that is not the case with The Room. The Room is an execrable cinematic effort by someone who is possibly mentally retarded. There is not a single redeeming quality. It's down there with Movie 43 and XYZibit or whatever, the Katherine Hiegel movie that is the lowest selling film of all time. In fact, it's lower than that.

BUT, because some fanboy has decided to unironically love it, now all the fanboys are behind it like a rabid pack of critters. Sad.

I can't speak for this poster but i would guess he means that you label anyone who likes a movie you hate (which seems to be the majority of current movies based on your posts) as fanboys. You can't just accept that people who view things differently than you have opinions that are just as valid as your own. If you don't like The Room, I get it...it's not everyone's cup of tea even in the "so bad it's good crowd." But why do you have to put down those that do find enjoyment in it? I honestly don't understand what you get out of that? It takes nothing to put someone down on an anonymous movie message board. No courage, no intelligence, no bravery required. So what exactly do you get out of dismissing everyone as fanboys who disagree with you?

I never said anything about heroic. Rarely is insulting people heroic. But insulting someone while looking them in the eye at least takes some guts. Doing so on an anonymous message board takes absolutely nothing. And everyone here is already awake. Many just don't agree with you. So keep putting people you've never met down for having differing opinions than you, I hope it gives you some sense of satisfaction.

I was about to respond that I don't have a problem but I guess that would be untrue. I don't like being called a derogatory term because I like something different than someone else. I don't like someone talking to me as if their opinion on something as subjective as movies is superior to my own and if I disagree I must be of inferior intellect. I like respectful discussions that people bring an open mind to. Not sure if you're capable of that but if so you don't show it on these forums.

I didn't say anything derogatory, and art is not 100% subjective, there are matters of technique and form that are not subjective, so one can definitely quantify a work of art as bad. The Room can't even be considered a film, it is so execrable.

Can you honestly tell me the the term "fanboy" wasn't used in a derogatory way here? I took it to mean pretty much the same as calling people sheep who can't think for themselves. Plus I'd say referring to people as a "rabid pack of critters" isn't exactly flattering either lol.

And I agree with you on matters of technique and form. Which would matter if people were arguing that The Room was an actually well made film. But no one is really making that argument. What people are saying, myself included, is that it's enjoyable to them. Like Troll 2, Sleepaway Camp, and (you nailed it in your OP) Batman and Robin, it's one of my guilty pleasures. Not well made, not well acted/directed. But damn it all I still just like it. Doesnt make me a rabid critter or a fanboy, just makes me different than you.

You actually called the dictionary definition of a word from Merriam-Webster "fake information" when it proved you didn't know what a word really meant. That's how interested in "truth" you really are. Which is to say, you aren't interested in truth at all.

B) Where does do The Room stand in regards to the gay agenda? Should I be worried that gay stuff is being pushed on me? I mean, we see Wiseau's butt, and you've previously informed me that gays love butts and that it's a sure sign that there is some gay chicanery going on.

C) There is no C, but things are better when they're in sets of threes.

Or to people with genuine curiosity of how someone can make something so inept. Bad movies are fascinating for much more than the "it's so bad it's funny" surface level.

A charlatan is someone who purposefully missguides you. There is no deception as to what this film is. Wiseau just stumbled ass backwards into a phenomenon (which The Room is, regardless of your opinion of it).

Yes but the difference between Wiseau and a true charlatan is that people believe the lies of a true charlatan. No one is watching The Room based on Wiseau's lies. They are watching it because they find its ineptness fascinating plain and simple. Further no one is being conned out of any money. They pay for something (i.e. a movie ticket or some other ridiculous Wiseau merchandise) and they receive exactly what they paid for. No con here.
