What I love about this film is that there is finally a happy ending for Ginger and Brigitte. The last shot of them holding hands and sharing the infection, they get to be werewolves together.
Call me weird, but I think that is such a great ending for them.

Its nothing weird about it. Loved the ending, always wanted them to get a happy ending anyway but never thought it would actually happen.

It was a bittersweet ending but as close to happy endings as they get. I HATED the ending to the second because they didnt pick it up again. But the first ending was sweet.

it's a good ending but it doesn't make sense to me because this is about their ancestors right? so if they become werewolves then what about having children to carry on their bloodline?
shareI ignore the whole "curse" storyline about how the ending of this one starts the hell that's to come in the original film.
I see this as basically a standalone remake of part 1 but with a different story and ending.

Are they necessarily the ancestors of the Brigitte and Ginger from the first and second films though ? Or are those future girls the reincarnations of these two girls from the past. That's how I saw it. They could still be blood related, very distantly, through other branches of their families that carried on.
shareI'm pretty sure they're just reincarnations. Speaking of which, if you take the first film into account, the "prequel" doesn't really have a happy ending. Sure, this Ginger and Brigitte go on to live together, but that defies their predestined fate - that Brigitte is supposed to kill Ginger. Which we know actually comes to pass a century later.
