Is supposed to be a hypothical, what if what happened to the girls happened 200 years ago? Are Ginger and Bridget supposed to be ancestors of Ginger and Bridget, like, ohh they had the same names. I feel like I missed something big in the other films and I just can't find it. So, what I really want to know is: What the hell?

I personally treat this as a reimagining. Think something like the Highlander anime. It doesn't take place in the same universe the first two do.
