Does he get to kill the boss?
First time I saw the movie, I thought he didn't and well... police never go after him and stuff. But the second time it seems like he did as to how he leaves running and stuff. Then again, it was a public place.

shareI got the impression he does not kill the boss. Perhaps Sam realizes in his half-crazy state that he doesn't want to interrupt his grand plan. Sam DID have the boss right where he wanted him and thus established a sense of power over the SOB and that was all Sam needed. That's how I saw it; I could be mistaken.
shareHe definitely chickens out and doesn't pull the trigger. You see it on his face that he can't go through with it. Plus there is no sound of a shot.
