Arnolds pretty bad. I'm willing to cut him some slack because it's his first season but his board room quizzing is pretty poor at this point and he's very stiff.
The women's team is awful. I think you had three potential good ones, Lisa Leslie, Laila Ali and Carrie Keegan, and they already got rid of Carrie Keegan.
Overall there just seems to be a lack of depth in the story telling. It almost seemed like they were half hour shows instead of being an hour each. Everything felt rushed.
I think Arnold is finding his way. He's not that bad. It's definitely a cheaper budget and he's not as much a crap stirrer as Trump. Trump would have suggested Lisa to be fired for pointing out a problem and not proposing a solution and then she threw her team under the bus. TRump would have been all over that.
However I like the tasks and the chemistry of the teams. The teams should have been tied. The men's trident commercial sucked and the messed up face with wings was absurd. Trident just didn't want to pick the women b/c the women didn't have an exact literal interpretation of the campaign slogan. Any test audience would have chosen the boxing ring in a new york minute.
What I can't get past is... Where are the celebrities?!? There a couple of recognizable has-beens, and the rest are C-Listers, at best. (I'd never heard of most of these so-called "celebrities ".) And the editing of the action and dialogue is so clipped and choppy it makes me dizzy trying to follow what's happening. I was a big fan of the original and celebrity shows under Trump, but this incarnation I won't be bothering with.
No, Smoko, not even close. On the earlier shows, at least I recognized who the celebrities were - even if they were on the downward slide in their careers ("Omarosa" being the only exception). In THIS version, by contrast, I (for one) literally have never even heard of most of these so-called "celebrities"! Big difference.
Arnold and his nephew aren't the Trump boys. They were excellent at grilling people in the board room and getting everybody turning on each other.
The show not being set in NY is very noticeable. LA just doesn't have a dog eat dog atmosphere.
Budget has been slashed. And they apparently no longer drop in on the teams to spy out what's going on. That always brought good material into the boardroom as well.
I'm sure it will get better as it goes along.
"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"
There is nothing wrong with it. Show is pretty much the same. Arnold made a good case for himself and his advisers. Even has his nephew like Trump had his family.
It's far from the same. Its ok for what it is, but as others messaged the less spying, the not talking about the three being picked between arnold and the two advisors, not buzzing the contestants back in to say arnold is ready to see them. All of those little things make the show seem way different.
Honestly, I think NBC and Mark Burnett did that un purpose this season. They went back to the basics like season 1 in 2004 to see what people like and dislike about the show. Then I am confident NBC will renew the show for 1 more season to improve on the changes based on fans reactions. Arnold is a good host and is starting to find his grove. Its not fair to compare Arnold to Trump as Arnold only had 2 episodes thus far where as Trump has been host for 14 seasons. If Arnold has many more seasons, people will warm up to him. Also Arnold is more well liked than Trump.
The tasks and boardrooms are about to get exciting and so are the advisors.
Also the ratings have been low the first two weeks as its been up against major football competition from ESPN that brought in 15-25 million viewers. Now with the competition back to normal this week, no football, Trump had his press conference last week, Trump taking office in 5 days, and Warren Buffet on the show, ratings should rise this week and the weeks to come.
I hope so b/c I really am enjoying this season. I only watch a couple of reality shows and this is one of them. I mainly like Game of Thrones, Ripper Street, The Missing, etc.
