500 bucks?

Lovitz only raised 500 bucks? Almost anyone could have raised more than that. He should be embarrassed, he must not have even tried. Should have given 10,000 himself even if he had to have someone else say they were the 1 donating the money.

I just can't fathom him only raising 500 bucks with who he knows. You'd think he would at least know 10 people that would give him a grand each just to show him a little love. He didn't try as I said or he is really disliked by the people he has worked with. If he had raised only $40,000 they would have won. He certainly deserved to be TERMINATED!

Jon may known them, but evidently he rubbed them the wrong way.

I think Lovitz has some issues we don't know about. He has a service dog if that is any indication. Maybe he has a hard time asking for things such as money.

I have a harder time accepting Ricky Williams all but promising 300,000 and then coming up VERY SHORT of that amount. No judgement on the cannabis money - they were obviously too mellow to follow through with the cash!

reply

I agree. I thought that was odd. But I also didn't like Laila Ali's refusal to accept ANY responsibility at all for the fact that Mr. Buffett didn't like her candy as much as the other team's.

reply

Everyone loved her candy, how could she take responsibility for something so subjective anyways? He could have easily said the brittle was boring and something he's had enough of and he wanted something new and innovate for Sees. She was in the clear for that for sure. It's just too much about personal taste and something you can't predict.

reply

LOL unfortunately- a huge part of this challenge was subjective - and everyone was aware of that. That doesn't mean no blame can be taken.
As was pointed out in the boardroom - no research was done by the losing team to find out what type of preferences Warren Buffett had as far as candy, thus it's very predictable that they would lose that part of the challenge compared to what the other team created, based on research and knowledge.
So, yes - Laila and actually the rest of the team as well - could definitely take blame for creating a candy that had no components Warren Buffett favored. If they had done some research, they would have known he likes brittle and dark chocolate and could have had a much better chance at winning.

COME ON! Ridiculous. Who would even think you could find Warren Buffet's favorite candy on the internet? What is Miley Cyrus's favorite candy then? Or Donald Trump's? I would not even think to research that on the internet. And even if you did find out you could make a terrible recipe of it. Because if Warren has a favorite I am sure he know the difference between the good and bad.

I agree about Jon Lovitz. Embarrassment. He knows and has friends that could do that.

...............ZING!

reply

The winning team was smart enough to try. I know Chael had some insight about Mr. Buffett but they confirmed that they did find out through research.
So..... I guess some people are smart enough to at least give it a try - and it ended up working for them.

Also - I took 2 seconds to Google Miley Cyrus' favorite candies and they are Dots and Cahews - very easy.

Not to mention - It's probably ten times easier to find out Warren Buffett's favorite since he is the owner of a very famous candy company

reply

If you don't immediately think about how to search for things on the internet, you clearly have not fully embraced the internet age. It took me less than 2 seconds to find Miley Cyrus favorite snack/candy: cashews and dots along with a list of her other favorite things:

Mileys favorite things

1. favorite song beating heart baby
2. favorite color lime green and purple
3. favorite animal dog
4. favorite cereal lucky charms
5. favorite show laguna beach
6. favorite movie steels magnolia
7. favorite sport cheerleading
8. favorite holiday christmas
9. favorite month november
10. favorite food anything chinese
11. favorite candy cahews and dots
12. favorite fruit grapes
13. favorite flower lavender
14. favorite store nordstorm
15. favorite scent vanilla

And by the way, you don't even need to be researching Warren Buffets favorite candies, just the slightest research into See's Candy (who the task was for) would reveal an entire section of their website is devoted to listed Warren Buffets favorite candies. It's litterally the first page that comes up if you do any research towards See's Candy and Warren Buffet. you have to be not paying any attention to the task to not find this.

http://www.sees.com/warren-buffetts-favorites

And Donald Trump tweets, facebooks and blogs about his favorite candies and foods more often than any other celebrity I've ever seen. You literally have to avoid the internet to not stumble across his constant posting about the foods he likes. I've never seen anyone so passionate about hamburgers or cherry vanilla ice cream.

So yea, these things are not hard to find. It took me longer to type out this post (about 19 seconds) than it did to find all of it through simple internet research (about 12 seconds total research time)

Thank you, kunovega.

My points exactly.

To say that it was something that couldn't be predicted is hilarious. The opposing team predicted it and hit it right on the mark.
Also, to mention that everyone loved Laila's candy is a moot point - as was stated in the boardroom - it doesn't matter if everyone liked her candy - only that Warren Buffett liked it - and he didn't.
To do some research and find out what a person favors is only smart.
They didn't do any research and they lost. The end.

reply

Exactly, the taste of the candy meant nothing to anyone other than Warren Buffet.

Every other person making a purchase was doing so for charity without ever tasting the candy before hand.

Only Warren got to taste it before choosing who got his money. Everyone else had to pay/donate first, at which point it makes the candy itself irreverent (to them)

reply

I was shocked at Lovitz's lack of contribution to the money-raising task.

I was so sure based on the number of friends he had during his SNL days that certainly someone would have donated a chunk of money for him. Sandler, Nealon, Schneider, etc. All of them had enough dough to help him out.

I'm glad Arnold is not keeping people around that deserve to be fired.

If Omarosa was on this show she would have been fired the first week.

reply

I think he let his ego get in the way. They didn't want to listen to his candy idea so he put no effort into making calls for donations

Either he's that oblivious and just spent the day brooding, or he really thought he wouldn't get called out for it and would save his big donors for when he was in charge of a charity task

He might have had a few big donors that weren't going to be willing to do handouts for him more than once for the season, so he decided to hold back on them and his decision went sideways for holding back

reply

You're right about his ego getting in the way. He was offended when no one liked his candy ideas, and he also did not want to go to Omaha, and acted very sulky about it. I think the production team must have told him before the board meeting that he likely was going to get voted out, because he had a morose expression on his face the minute they entered the boardroom. Or perhaps he told Arnold that he wanted to get fired because he had had enough. It's clear that he sabotaged himself.

reply

Yeah, I agree. $500 was almost like putting in no effort at all. The contestants should have their donors lined up before filming even begins. They should make all those phone calls as soon as they find out they've been cast on the show. Then, when the cameras are rolling they can make follow-up calls.

reply

I thought jon would have raised more than 500 bucks which is insulting.
