flaw in the ending

if you want to get picky about it you know when you look in a mirror don’t you lea in and focus on one part of your face and stuff
like to be picky about what happens in the memories is nuts just accept the idea into the pretend story superman doesn’t fly in real life but it's still fun to watch

but also if you want to get into the movie deeper remember how some chips have a flaw and see what the mind sees maybe it means he saw himself as invisible and meaningless so hence he saw him self turn away in the mirror but he was still looking at the mirror

It was symbolic for Alan leaving his life.

I noticed that too! Just watched it and was caught off guard on that last shot ha.. "whoa.. wait a second".

There really isn't a clear cut answer for it (lol no intended pun). Okay so say it's a "defect" and it's symbolic for him leaving his life... before he knew he was leaving his life? Huh? I went back to check the implant's time code, and what Fletcher is looking at during this last shot is more than 2 years earlier than when Hakman dies in the graveyard.

Anyway. I love the film, my biggest beef is some of the dialogue gets a little cheesy, not the main characters but a lot of the side stuff going on. Details, details, details.

It may have been a stupid idea, but according to the interview in the 'special features' it was a deliberate choice. I kind of liked it. Gave me that feeling you get when you are on a train next to another train and one of them starts moving and for a split second you can't tell which one...

I noticed that too. I started analysing it to see if it means something else. like color of the boat or the two versions of Alan's childhood memory. I think it is just a careless mistake.

I too liked the movie for its interesting premise. My only complaint is that it has three endings and only one of them is complete and satisfying. The other loosends (the girl, the girlfriend, Fletcher) could have been tied up a little more.
