Maybe that is why they had the sex scene etc. It is common for a lot of women too lose all abilities once sex enters the picture. Although she did sleep with him so something took place beforehand - for her not to figure it out.
Also, why would an FBI profiler be that stupid to sleep with someone during the case, while it is actively being investigated? I know they do, and have, but they are pretty damn stupid to do so.
Granted even the best make mistakes but still, hard to believe.
