I was pissed they had that scene, I knew his character did not like her from the beginning but as the film progressed I started to wonder if he disliked most woman with confidence or authority. His anger was way over the top towards her and with that pimp slap he let the viewers know it. Maybe his character was gay, He was young and handsome, but made no move on Angelina's character. One last point it being did anyone notice she was wrenching her jaw right after he slapped her, seems like there was no stunt double and she was caught of guard with it.

Goodness, guys!!! She was on the police force for crying out loud. She was "meant" to be used to physical activites like that. She was a profiler that got in league with the deadliest creatures and yet, some say a tweak on the face is this and that. She probably had some training in some martial art. the french dude simply took her as an equal - and this I believe is what women want.

reply

Idiot.
You shouldn't hit ANYONE - male OR female.
There is no difference between that douchebag that regularly slaps his wife and that uppity bitch outside the club that slaps men around BECAUSE SHE CAN.
They're both low-lives.

reply

I thought that was the best part of the movie, because it's not something you were expecting and not something you see often.

It was such an awkward scene. I didn't know what to think when it happened and it looked like Angelina didn't either. I just saw it again recently and had totally forgotten it was in the movie.

What's truthful is that if, by some way or another, the film had been written so that Angelina Jolie's character was a male, instead of a female, and he was hit in the face by the male cop, nobody would be discussing this. It would be seen as perfectly acceptable. Everyone is always up in arms when a female or a child gets injured or killed, but males get butchered by the hundreds and thousands in films, and nobody says anything. I'm not saying one is "wronger" than the other. I don't really concern myself with that. I love action films and watch them by the hundreds and it never really occurs to me. It's the double-standards and hypocrisies that piss me off. Sure enough, when Angelina got smacked in the face, I was positive if I came here somebody would be playing the whole "It's not right to hit women" card. Would you be here bitching if Jolie's character had been a male? I doubt it.

reply

Her character was irritating and dull; I loved the slap.

reply

I wanted two slaps.

reply

It's pathetic how he hated her without any reason from the beginning.
